Who We Are

We are Sophisticated Women of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.  The Oak Park chapter, Theta Chi Sigma (TCS), answered the call by being chartered on Saturday, March 6, 1999, in Oak Park, IL by 30 professional women.  This eclectic pool of women with an array of talents set community service goals to better serve the westside of Chicago and the surrounding communities and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. In only a short time, TCS has developed civic, social, educational, and economic programs within the community with an emphasis on the positive development of women and their families.

What We Do

Theta Chi Sigma has developed civic, social, educational, and economic programs for the community with an emphasis on the positive development of the women and their families.  However, service to youth is the hallmark of the chapter’s activities which include it’s continued involvement with Ronald McDonald House Charities and off the Street Club (Off the Street Club is the oldest boys & girls club in Chicago, offering alternative activities for the Youth on Chicago’s westside.)

Some of the other service projects that Theta Chi Sigma Chapter has taken part in since its inception include walk-a-thons (March of Dimes, Juvenile Diabetes, Sickle Cell, UNCF, Y-Me, and AIDS), a clothing drive, and a resume workshop for People Reaching Out, a women’s shelter on the westside of Chicago.

Membership

From seven young educators, Sigma Gamma Rho has become an international service organization comprised of women from every profession and offers its members opportunities to develop their unique talents through leadership training and involvement in sorority activities.

In addition, Sigma Gamma Rho’s affiliate groups offer opportunities for membership to girls as young as eight years old through the teen and adult years.

TCS In Action

Activities that bind us together in sisterhood are not just times where we attend social activities but it is also where programs and fundraisers are created that benefit our communities.

Several programs have strengthened the bond of our sisterhood, and we take pride in everything we do. From international sorority programs to local initiatives, from chapter retreats to formal teas, TCS is on the move.
